California through our eyes.

Our trip to San Fransisco and the Monterey Bay area was so fun & I was so amazed at all we were able to do & see during our time there.

Ben obliged me on our first day, as we strode along Union Square by going to Britex Fabrics with me.  Four stories of wall to wall fabric.  Complete bliss.

We did the touristy thing & rode the cable cars around San Fran to see all the fun sights like the Cable Car Museum, Lombard St., Fisherman's Wharf, & more.

The Ferry Building near Fisherman's Wharf was one of our favorite stops at the Wharf.  Local artisans pack out the place with delicious local foods, handmade treasures & more.  I am pretty sure I had the best Vanilla steamer made from local milk.  Ever.

Boudin's was our stop for San Fransisco Sourdough & it did not disappoint :)

Monterey, Carmel & Big Sur were our next stops--I could have spent weeks exploring this area..or maybe I will just make it my goal to live there someday.  Either way, it was gorgeous.

We did the 17 mile drive through Pebble Beach & saw seals, the Lone Cypress & so many other natural wonders.

Hiking through the cliffside beaches of Big Sur was just as breathtaking.  We even ate our lunch overlooking the cliffside beaches.  Heavenly.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium & Nemo.

Redwoods.

And back to the Golden Gate where we said good bye to sunny CA, for now :)

A Surprise

Little E & I were in for a big surprise this weekend when my sweet friends threw a beautiful & fun shower for the two of us :)  Ben was even in on the surprise & completely had me fooled until we walked through the door.  So sneaky!

Super cute decor & amazing food, made for such a charming & memorable day

Party favors & delicious treats

The tree branches in the picture below, were used to write down guesses for what little E's name will be.
We had guesses from Eli to Eduardo...
Just a couple more months to wait & see :)

I love old baby blocks <3

Many sweet gifts from sweet, sweet friends...

Thanks for a beautiful day!!

Little E hits up California

Ben & I took what we deamed our "babymoon" & headed off to Northern California for a week!  I can't wait to share more from our trip, when I have the time--it was beautiful & so wonderful- a perfect babymoon.

Even though the little E man won't make his official debut for another 6-8 weeks (*I hope!), we documented his trip at 31 weeks with some bump shots.  Some day, he may just want to know about his trip to California. ;)

Nursery Reveal!

Here it is!  After brewing in my head for months, it was so fun to actually make this little project happen & to work on it with my hubby!  I really can't make any of my projects work as well without him because he is much better at the "big picture" than I am, and I am the details behind the big picture, so we make a good team ;)

I couldn't get good lighting on this side of the room for the picture, but it is our changing area (minus the changing pad, for now).   Rather than buying a new dresser/changing table for the room, we opted to store all of little e's clothing in the closet & to make a changing area with an antique table that we already had.  We replaced the legs on the table to make it more sturdy & then, to make up for the lack of storage space that the table provides, we hung wire baskets on the wall nearby with cloth diapers, ointments & such  tucked inside.

Little e's room also needed to double as a guest bedroom for our family's needs.  To accomodate a large bed & crib into a less than huge room, we decided to make the bed into a daybed & replaced the head & foot board with foot pegs (more on this later--perhaps a DIY Wed?)
This created ample space in the room to have both a guest bed & a crib! YAY!

We also wanted to create some ambient lighting in the room as an alternative to the big fluorescent bulb that is in the middle of the ceiling & came up with these fun lights to serve as lighting & also decoration over the bed.  I'm working up a tutorial on those as well!

Like I said, I love the details--this suitcase & vintage baby weigh is purely for fun, totally impractical.  Although, the weigh does work, so I suppose I could track baby's weight every now & again if I'm curious.  :)

Handmade pillows.

Vintage fan to give little e some ambient noise when he sleeps :)

Handmade Crib Skirt--to match the curtains by the changing table.

If you can't hide the cords, embrace them ;)

And, finally, a close up of my little superhero's wall & crib.

I love the feeling of a completed project & a successful one at that!

The little things...

The day that Ben returned home, about a week and a half ago, we just celebrated the little things in life he had missed. His dog, Bob, milk, peanut butter...things you take for granted when you have them daily accessible. We also had a mini celebration of all the holidays and events he had managed to miss while away (Christmas, his birthday, Thanksgiving, etc...) needless to say, he had some unwrapping of gifts to catch up on when he got back. It's been fun to celebrate life's little normalcies with him again, and to find newness in them once again.

Happy Friday!
